Blessed Assurance
Hebrews 10:22 - Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
Where there is no assurance of God’s acceptance, there’s no peace. Where there is no peace, there is no joy. Why? Because a person with no assurance is partially motivated by fear – and anxiety and peace cannot coexist. One will always override the other.
In other words, if you’re doubtful of God’s love and provision today, you won’t be able to “be anxious for nothing,” as Philippians 4:6 commands. You can’t be because you’ll always be motivated to wonder if you have done enough. This will be especially true when things don’t go your way.
This is why whenever you aren’t experiencing the peace Jesus promises you, you need to check if your relationship with Him hinges on anything other than His finished work on the cross. If you feel you have any part in maintaining your relationship with Him, you won’t have much assurance. Hope, maybe; assurance, no.
So today, search your heart for any trace of anxiety and ask the Father to reveal its root. Then ask Him to give you promises from His Word that will reassure you of who you are in Him.
