Go Forward
Exodus 14:15-16 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
God has given some commands in His Word that seem impossible to follow. With the Red Sea in front of them and the Egyptian army marching toward them, God says, “Go Forward!”
God told Gideon to go defeat an army of 135,000 with 300 men. Jesus told Peter to walk on water. Jesus told His disciples to feed thousands of people with one little boy’s lunch. A blind man was told by Jesus to wash the mud off his eyes to regain his sight. Jesus told a lame man at the pool of Bathesda to take up his bed and walk.
God told Joshua to march around the wall of Jericho with the Ark of the Covenant once a day for six days. On the seventh day he was to march around seven times, blow trumpets, and shout. Then, the wall would come tumbling down. I have read where these walls were wide enough for two chariots to pass by each other. How could marching, blowing trumpets, and shouting result in it crumbling down?
When God is involved, the Red Sea parted, Gideon’s small army won the battle, thousands were fed with a boy’s lunch, a blind man received sight, a lame man walked home, and Jericho’s wall came tumbling down.
If God asks you to do something that sounds impossible, like forgive someone who has wronged you, give to someone who you know to be ungrateful, or maybe serve in some capacity at a really bad time for you. Understand, when Jesus is Lord of your life, He expects obedience, even in seemingly impossible tasks.
