Allowing the Storms
Isaiah 54:11 - O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
We know that Jesus can stop the storms of life. We see it in the disciple’s lives as they followed Him. We see also that oftentimes He doesn’t stop the storms. And in those situations we struggle wondering why the storm continues. We know God is good all the time, so why does He allow difficult things into our lives. Why does life have to be such a struggle?
When we study the lives of the disciples we learn that Jesus was building their faith. He allowed storms to come up time after time, not to discourage them but to build them up in their faith. He was preparing them for what was ahead. Jesus knew they would be persecuted and suffer for His name and He wanted their hearts to be strong and ready to face the difficulties ahead.
Don’t think His purposes for you are any different. We learn in Acts 10:34 - Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
God has a plan and purpose for your life as well. He allows storms and trials to strengthen you so that you will be equipped to face the future. His goal is for you to be successful, we learn in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jesus sees the beginning and the end. Don’t be afraid, He will get you through the storms of life. He is building qualities in you that will last for eternity. Trust Him!
