Contending for the Truth
Jude 1:3 - Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
What is your conviction about the Word of God? When you have a conviction about something, it is so important to you that you are willing to earnestly contend for it, because you are convinced it is true.
The Word of God is:
Inspired - 2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Inerrant - Proverbs 30:5 - Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:6 - Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Infallible - Matthew 24:35 - Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
We must be convinced that the Bible is the Truth or we are subject to believe anything the enemies tell us. Our enemy loves to ask, “Hath God said?”
Contend for the Truth concerning the Scriptures.
It is important for a person who has been saved to study, meditate, and apply the truth of the Word of God. To be able to contend for the faith we must know the Truth. We live in a time when a lot of people like to say, “This is my truth.” They don’t understand that Jesus is "The Truth,” and we can stand on the principles of God's Word.
