Seeing the Unseen2
2 Corinthians 4:18 - While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
The cofounder of Apple, the late Steve Jobs, was actually fired from his position as CEO of the company before he came back to lead its renaissance. In a commencement address at Stanford University in 2005, Jobs said, “I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to me.”
Many people, Christians and non-Christians alike, testify that failure has been a back door to success. But even when failure doesn’t lead to outward success, Christians can trust that God is working in the midst of their failure. When anyone experiences failure---or any kind of affliction---he or she tends to focus on what is seen and what is happening at that moment. But for Christians experiencing failure, God is at work in the unseen---shaping our character into the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:28-29). Only Christians can be confident that God is going to use their failure for a deep purpose in their lives.
If you regret a failure in your life, thank God for the unseen work He is doing in you today.
“The Christian message is for those who have done their best and failed!”
