Take the Leap

For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.  Psalm 18:29

The BIble confronts us with our moral independence within ourselves and our spiriitual dependence upon God.

In the picturesque words of Psalm 18, David says, "By my God I can leap over a wall." We can jump over some barriers in life by our own will and our own efforts; God has not left us completely powerless. But some walls are so high we need more.

The psalmist knew such walls. They could be leaped only with the help of God. When we try to jump over them by ourselves, we repeatedly fall short. But with God's help, we can scale them.

What walls do you need to jump over? A habit you cannot break? An emotion that defeats you? An attitude that separates you from others? A heart beset with doubt or discouragement or fear? Whatever it is, with God's help, you can leap over that wall.
