Sustained

Psalm 55:22 - Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

One of the ways Jesus dealt with the pressures He faced was by stepping away from the furious pace of His world to be with the Father. We read in Matthew 14:23 – “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.” He understood that those quiet moments of communion were absolutely essential. If they were crucial to the Savior, who is God in the flesh, how much more imperative are they for us?

Therefore, when stress builds and there’s no relief in sight, we need to take Jesus’ example and find a quiet place alone with Him, because that opens us to His presence, wisdom, and power. We cast our burdens onto Him, acknowledging Him as our sufficiency. He can carry the weight that accompanies any stressful or painful situation we face.

Many people struggle because they feel guilt over past sin and believe God won’t hear their prayers. But the father is waiting with unconditional love and forgiveness for us to approach Him – always willing to set us back on the right course. So never hesitate to take your afflictions and pressures to God in prayer. He knows everything you need even before you ask and longs to spend time alone with you.
