The Lamb's Book of Life

There shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.  Revelation 21:27

You and I will never be good enough to get into Heaven on our own. The reason is because God is pure and holy, and even one sin--just one--would be enough to keep us out of Heaven. Any and every sin is an offense to God. He does not take our good deeds and bad deeds and weigh them against each other. Instead, the Bible says, "whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all" (James 2:10).

That is why we need Christ, for He came into the world to take away our sins. We cannot remove our sins and guilt--but Christ can, because He was the sinless Son of God. When we come by faith to Him, all our sins are transferred to Him, and we are forgiven. Our names are written in God's Book of Life because of Christ.

We can't trust in our own goodness--but we can trust in Christ and in what He has done for us. Are you trusting in Him alone for your salvation?
