Hearing God Through Scripture

Psalm 119:105 - Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

God wants you to know and do His will; you can be assured that He will make it known to you in His time. However, the main way He reveals His purposes for you is always through Scripture, which is His comprehensive instruction book for living. Meditating on God’s Word is absolutely essential for receiving His counsel and illuminating the way you should go.

This is why one of the best things you can do as you read Scripture is to ask, “Lord God, what are you saying to me? How do you want me to apply this to my life? What is it I’m supposed to learn, Father?”

This is because when you present an open, teachable heart, the Holy Spirit will work through Scripture supernaturally to lead you, train you, correct your erroneous thinking, convict you of sin, influence your decisions, or stop you when you are drifting from God’s will (2 Timothy 3:16-17). He helps you see the reality of your circumstances and how to handle them in a manner that honors Him.
