Why the Word

2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

As we saw yesterday, the Bible speaks to what the Father desires for us to do and helps us accomplish it. It is His instruction book for living. But what makes it so powerful is that it is inspired – literally, Scripture is God breathed. This is how the Lord wrote the sixty-six books through His approximately forty servants throughout the ages---He divinely breathed these books out, inspiring the authors through His Spirit to write them.

The Bible did not originate with people, it came from God’s mind, and its principles carry His power. This is why it is still so powerful, even though the biblical authors lived in such a different culture and time than you do. Scripture originates from a Source outside of them and, indeed, outside of time itself (Isaiah 46:10).

This is what makes the Bible like no other book in the world; it flowed from the heart of God rather than from man. Thankfully, because this is true, the Holy Spirit can speak directly to your circumstances through it. This is what makes Scripture so profitable---it is helpful and advantageous to you because through it, God always steers you to His highest and best for you.
