Thanking God for Others

Philippians 1:3 - I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

When was the last time you told someone, “I thank God for you”? The Apostle Paul regularly expressed his gratitude for his friends in his letters. It seems that the more Paul suffered (he was jailed, shipwrecked, beaten), the more his letters dripped with thanksgiving. He thanked God for those who stood with him; he thanked God for those who served alongside him, and most of all he thanked God for those who had come to faith in Christ through his ministry.

For whom are you thankful? Use this Thanksgiving week to think of the family and friends God has brought into your life. Do you know what will happen when you do that? You will find yourself sitting down to write someone a note of encouragement. Maybe you will pick up the phone and call someone to say, “I’ve just been thinking about how God has blessed my life because of you. I thank God for you today and want you to know that.”

Let the celebration of Thanksgiving remind you of the importance of gratitude. Don’t miss the opportunity to tell your loved ones why you’re thankful for them today!
