Times like These

Jude verses 17-23

Jude 1:17 -23 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

This is a tremendous portion of Scripture in that so many things are made clear about the work of God and how to handle times like these.

We are living in strange times; a time when God is not reverenced, respected, or even regarded. As Christians we know God is in control of all things.

So what do we do in these troubled times? Do we turn our heads and ignore the strife? Do we give in and compromise our beliefs?

God is looking for a person who knows about His plan and is willing to allow God to use him to accomplish His will!

What do you need to do in times like these? Show forth:

  1. Commitment – to love God, to follow Christ, to study the Word wholeheartedly and teach others about His loving care. Men, women, boys, and girls that realize they have an obligation because of the commands of Christ to commit themselves to the spreading of the Gospel.
  2. Sacrifice – In giving up those pleasures and habits that interfere with being the godly examples to those around us or interfere with raising godly children and grandchildren. We know very little of old fashioned sacrifice of our own wants and needs to supply the needs of others.
  3. Courage – to admit we are wrong and ask for forgiveness when we make mistakes. Our family, who already knows our weaknesses, will see Christ’s power as we adjust our behavior.
  4. Perseverance – to stay the course and not lose heart, because it takes time for our children, grandchildren, and others to develop godly character.

God handles these situations and He tells us how to handle these in the last few verses of Jude!

This is what you can do to be the godly person God created you to be.
