Fighting the Fight

II Timothy 4:1-8

There are struggles in life! 2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought a good fight,

If Christ delays His coming, there is a time when all of us come to a situation---a time of conflict, whether internal or external.

Life is a series of battles, fights and struggles. 2 Timothy 3:12 - Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

The greatest battle of all times was the one Christ fought. He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, toward the cross.

  1. The Cross was on His Mind “To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” (John 18:37)
  2. The Cross was in His teaching. “Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more.” (John 14:19). In verses before that, He was instructing His disciples before approaching His battle---His death on the cross.
  3. The Cross was in His Prayers. He prayed, saying, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but Thine be done.” (Luke 22:42). In the Garden of Gethsemane, He agonized in prayer as He prepared for the cross. The cross was the battleground! There Christ died for our sins!

Approach the battles of life by trusting Christ as your Saviour, dedicating your life to His service, praying and submitting yourself to Him! Then you too can say, “I have fought a good fight!”
