Blessed Assurance

He hath made every thing beautiful in His time: also He hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.  Ecclesiastes 3:11

 

How do we know that Heaven even exists? How do we know it isn't just a myth, a product of our imaginations?

Let me give you two reasons why we can know Heaven exists (although I could give other reasons). First, I am convinced Heaven exists because God has put the hope of Heaven within our hearts. That hope is almost universal, and it is part of every religion. The Bible says that this hope comes from God. He wants us to know that death is not the end and that we were meant to live forever with Him. As the verse above says, God placed within our hearts a yearning for Heaven.

The main reason I know Heaven exists, however, is the death and resurrection of Jesus. When He died on the cross, He erased the only thing that can keep us out of Heaven: our sin. When He rose from the dead, He guaranteed for all time that there is life after death and that Heaven is real. Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2).

By a simple prayer of faith, ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your life. Then thank Him that someday you will go to be with Him in Heaven forever.
