No More, No More

Hebrews 10:1-18

Hebrews 10:17-18 - And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Recall for a moment the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-24). When the boy finally “came to himself” he got up and went home to confess his sins to his father. Remember his speech? “I….am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.” No more worthy! How often a sinning saint has felt that way!

But your Father does not want you to feel that way! No matter how greatly you may have sinned, your Father will forgive you and cleanse you. It is not a matter of your worthiness, for nobody is worthy in God’s sight. No, it is a matter of Christ’s worthiness, the One who died for you.

Because of His death and resurrection, there is “no more conscience of sins” verse 2. Sacrifices can never wash away sins and make the inner man clean, but the blood of Christ can. And there is no more remembrance of sin (verse 17). “Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” What a promise! Satan, the accuser, loves to remind us of our sins, but Christ our Savior has forgotten them – and He wants us to forget them too.

No more sacrifice for sin (verse 18) – this is the basis for it all! By one offering Jesus Christ settled the sin problem forever! “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin (I John 1:7).

Move from the “no more” confession of Luke 15 into the “no more” assurances of Hebrews 10.
